Liesbet Aerts
Copywriter

To more freedom, fulfillment, and launch myself on the Dutch market. This was the question Liesbet Aerts, a Belgian copywriter who moved to Amsterdam, asked me. Can you help me?

Certainly. Very much so 😄. I was very delighted of coaching this first non-Belgian based client.

How did we approach this?

I like to define terminologies first. What does freedom and fulfillment mean to Liesbet? In that way, I get a clear picture of when it is achieved.

Furthermore, we refined her offer; for whom does she want to work, what kind of copy, and what kind of assignments appeal to her.

Internal and external positioning was necessary since she had no idea how to sell herself in a new market. She came to the realisation of the importance of self-marketing, and you can do that without denying yourself. We discussed a strategy on how to get her first clients.

Liesbet goes about her business in a more structured manner. She mentioned that it is rewarding to see how she creates more 'respect' for her own business in this way.

Throughout the trajectory, she became more self-confident about her abilities as a copywriter. By proving herself that when she is in a creative flow (and not in a grey office) some pretty nice words flow through her keyboard.

What have I learned?
I am a (very) solution-oriented person. If I notice that my client is still thinking too much in old patterns or is passing on ideas based on old habits, then I often turn them down because I think, no, that is exactly NOT the direction you want to go in. But maybe I should be less strict about that? Food for thought 🙂 .
