What we all can learn from the way object designers think and work 🤩

Ok, it’s true.

I lovvvve nice objects ā¤ļø.
I look at them and my head goes boom.

Because my thoughts not only go the object in itself.
I’m also amazed by:

  • the magical idea of the maker

  • the courage to put the idea into an actual object

  • the hard work & long process to produce the object - once or maybe a million times

  • the guts of the maker to put the object - and a piece of their soul - out in the open

What do you think? Can’t we all learn something from their bravery? I thought so too!

It’s actually really hard. During the long process from idea to real object, makers often struggle with self-doubt.
They invest a lot of time & resources in designing and producing. Only to put the object away on a dusty shelf, ā€˜cause:

  • who will be interested in this?

  • is this even good enough to enter a gallery or exhibition?

  • and if so: how will I manage to get my object over there?

  • how do I even start to ā€˜market’ an object?

  • can I put an object into mass production without betraying myself as an artist/designer?

Do you smell the anxious stress sweat? I do! And my heart breaks because we - the public - miss out on all the cool stuff.

I would want to shout - but I don’t, ā€˜cause I don’t like shouting, so I write it - Stop sweating, I WILL HELP YOU make decisions, take steps, get your cool stuff out in the world!

Please spread these words to all makers you know so we can make this world a more aesthetic place šŸ™šŸ¼.
